Cirque Du Davis: A Magical New Year’s Eve Wedding

Timmesha and Donell celebrated their nuptials on New Year’s Eve with an over-the-top circus themed wedding at Dock 5 in Washington, DC. When it came to planning their big day, Timmesha and Donell broke the mold with a dark and moody circus themed wedding that was anything to “clown” about. The circus theme was embraced from the wedding invitations to the unique wedding entertainment. The Davis’ were very adamant about giving their guests an experience and we are so happy to be able to give you a glimpse into their magical night.

Starting with the ceremony, Timmesha and Donell wanted guests to feel the suspense of walking into a Cirque Du Soleil show. The entire space was draped in black sequin draping and well-lit with purple uplighting to create a moody ambiance. The entrance showcased various levels of floral arrangements comprised of deep, dark colors of burgundy wine tones, purples, and rich greens. The aisle was aligned with greenery and a variation of deep red and purple candles on pedestals encased in hurricane vases. It was certainly a vibe. The guests couldn’t wait to see what was next.

During intermission (cocktail hour) while guests enjoyed their signature cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, they were able to find their seats by grabbing their personalized entry tickets at the ticket booth built by Amaryllis Floral and Event Design. The ticket booth was no ordinary booth. In addition to the beautiful floral arrangements that aligned the top and sides, there was a motorized feature that moved in circles displaying the couple’s initials, wedding date, and more.

For the next act, the reception continued with the circus aesthetic as guests were welcomed by a juggler. As they approached their tables, they were knocked off their feet by the enchanted forest-like floral ceiling installation and perhaps the most grand feature of them all, the one-of kind custom sweetheart carousel that looked as if it was borrowed from an amusement park. There were so many design elements and entertaining features that guests may have forgotten that they weren’t under the grand chapiteau. Given the fact that it was New Year’s Eve, the couple wanted to incorporate a traditional countdown for their guests to celebrate. As the final act, guests received celebratory confetti poppers, 2023 glasses, streamers, and horns to help ring in the New Year. Cirque Du Davis was absolutely the “greatest show on earth” that night.
