Tijé and Tony’s wedding at the InterContinental in Washington, DC was the epitome of pure elegance and sophistication. The all-white florals with very minimal greenery and accents of gold created a timeless look that had guests swooning.
Leading up to the wedding ceremony, the couple opted for a first look at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, one of Washington DC’s most popular attractions. Although it was a busy day for tourists in the heart of downtown DC, the bride and groom stunned on-lookers which caused them to clear a path as they took their places. Back at the ceremony, 170 guests took their seats in luxurious gold-trimmed chairs in the Algonquian Ballroom. While seated, they enjoyed the natural light veering from the floor-to-ceiling windows while taking in the beautiful decor. The ceremony decor featured a white acrylic aisle runner lined with white pillar candles enclosed in hurricane vases and various levels of white pedestals topped with oversized floral arrangements. The bride and groom exchanged their vows under a 10 ft square-shaped arch affixed on top of a raised platform created specifically for the lovely couple and their officiant.
During their planning journey, the couple shared that they were opening a new lounge and Melissa, our lead planner, and designer had a great idea to incorporate a lounge feel into their wedding day. Not only did she bring lounge-style seating featuring a mix of banquettes and dining chairs into the reception, but guests were also entertained by one of D.C.’s hottest music bands on a separate concert stage. Guests were also greeted by champagne ladies as they took their seats for dinner.
